[German]Users of systems with Intel Optane storage technology should not upgrade to the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (2004 version). This will cause issues – but there is a workaround from Intel.
Intel Optane is a memory module technology first introduced in 2017 to improve the performance of desktop and laptop computers for less money. The system must have a 7th generation Intel Core processor (Kaby-Lake) and a 200 mainboard chipset.
Issues after Windows 10 V2004-Upgrade
Users with Intel Optane systems will face problems after upgrading to the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004). Someone on Twitter has raised the issue in the following tweet.

Another user describes the problem here in the Intel forum. Also in the Fedback Hub (only available under Windows 10) there are several entries (1, 2, 3). The affected users will get an Intel® Optane
Memory Pinning Error:
‘Unable to load DLL ‘iaStorAfsServiceApi.dll’
is displayed. The error message occurs because of a compatibility problem with installed drivers.
Support article shows a solution
Intel has therefore published this support article on the subject. The root cause of the problem is that with every major operating system update, all devices will be reinstalled with the best fitting drivers. This is the case with the function update to Windows 10 Version 2004.
Specifically, the RST driver 17.5.0.1017 has changed the way the Intel® Optane memory pinning components are installed. If at any time the driver has been updated from a version prior to 17.5.0.1017 to a newer version, the operating system update may attempt to reapply the removed installation files of the earlier versions. However, this may cause conflicts.
According to Intel, the solution is to use the Control Panel and the Programs and Features entry to select the Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions listed there and then have them repaired. In a further step, the old Intel® Pinning Shell Extensions must be uninstalled. The steps are described in the support article. Just like Martin Geuß I can’t try this workaround because of the lack of an Optane system.
